I keep reminding myself that its been really rainy all summer and that is why I feel like I have not had a summer yet. But, maybe it's more than that. We have all been ping ponging around and not in one place together since the end of May. In the past, Summer has meant freedom from school and it's surrounding schedule for the kids, and therefore , us. But, they are in college now and their lives are starting to take on a new form and we are physically outside of it. Just sometimes makes me blue.
A beautiful essay! As I enter the midway point of my summer, I'm thinking deeply about how to make the most of the long (but hot!) summer days. I often enjoy designating a "theme" for summer, but I equally enjoy a season in which, as you mention, “summer is writing the script."
Here’s hoping the remaining summer weeks are full of fresh berries and cold drinks!
Life does just happen, eat blackberries like popcorn and enjoy the show. You can look back on this scene as 'the Summer I just pottered about'. Pottering is underrated. 🍇
